This article is so very true, especially for today's youth. I work with 6th and 8th graders in the public school system. It's difficult to teach morals and values when they're constantly bombarded with lies. The one small thing that I CAN do is make them accept silence. Yep. During their work, total silence. No talking, no music, NO IPODS, no tapping pencils. Nope. Nada. Nothing. When they complain, I tell them that if this is the ONLY place they'll hear silence, then they'll have to deal with it and listen to themselves for once.
